I visited London Heathrow in the autumn of 2023, and I have to admit that I had chosen some good days in terms of weather. Out of the four days, there was only one with cloudy weather. Unfortunately, it was completely white clouds, which is the worst type of weather when photographing planes. White clouds and white aircraft body just give some flat pictures, but that’s a condition I’ve learned to accept.

Hotel
I had chosen to stay at the Premier Inn T4. There was no problem getting a room overlooking the airport and to maximize my options I arrived at 3 p.m. I was allocated room 792 which had an unobstructed view of runway 27L. For convenience, I had breakfast and dinner at the hotel, and the quality of the food was quite good. I have included several pictures taken from the window of the hotel in my galleries.

Local Express
The nearest kiosk was Local Express, located at the following address:
103 New Rd, Feltham TW14 8HU, United Kingdom
The easiest way is simply to cross all the roads to get to a large green lawn and then follow the paths down to the roads. In total, it takes less than 10 minutes to get to Local Express.

From Premier Inn to lane 09L

If you have chosen to stay at Premier Inn T4 and the wind is in an easterly direction, you may need to come to Meadow Mound. There are two options, train or bus. The train is free but the total journey time is often 50 minutes. Bus no. 490 costs £1 and takes about 25 minutes to T5 and from here it is about a 5 minute walk to the photo location. If the wind is from the east, the track is not changed at 15.00, however, many of the companies, including Emirates, will land on runway 09R.
